OEM Vape Pods: What’s the Real Minimum Order and What Do You Actually Get?

OEM Vape Pods: What’s the Real Minimum Order and What Do You Actually Get?

Ask most suppliers about OEM and you get a number with no context. “MOQ 1,000 pcs” — but 1,000 of one colour? Per SKU? Across the whole line? And does that price include the logo, the colour match, the box, or do those each carry their own fee that shows up later? The vagueness is usually deliberate. I’d rather just tell you how it works.

So here’s the breakdown I give every brand that asks. Read it once and you’ll know exactly what your first order will cost.

Custom OEM pod system XD02 — 10 colour variants for private label, OXVA Xlim Pro compatible wholesale
XD02 device in 10 standard colour variants. Custom colour and OEM logo available from 1,000 pcs. MOQ for devices: 100 pcs.

Three OEM Tiers — And What Each One Actually Means

There are three levels of branding, and each has its own MOQ, lead time, and cost logic. From lightest touch to full custom:

Tier 1 — Logo Printing (from 1,000 pcs)

Just your logo on the pod or cartridge — pad printing if it’s one colour (tough, doesn’t rub off), UV printing if it’s multi-colour (costs a touch more). The pod itself stays a stock colour, usually white, black or silver depending on the SKU. Cheapest way to put your name on the product.

What you need to provide: your logo in vector format (AI, EPS, or high-res PDF), the print colour in Pantone reference, and the print position (top or bottom half of pod body, cartridge tube, or mouthpiece).

MOQ: 1,000 pcs per order. We’re currently exploring whether 500 pcs is feasible for logo printing — confirm at time of order.

Lead time: 7–10 days production after deposit confirmation. Add 5–7 days for DHL express to EU.

Tier 2 — Custom Colour (from 1,000 pcs per colour)

Custom OEM pod system XD01 — 12 colour options, NexLim 6th gen compatible, wholesale private label
XD01 in 12 standard colour options. Each colour is a separate 1,000 pcs run. Pantone matching available — provide a Pantone Coated reference or hex code.

Here the whole PCTG shell is moulded in your colour, not just printed. It’s a bigger commitment than a logo but it looks like a real product — the entire unit is yours, not a generic pod with a sticker-feel print on it.

What you need to provide: Pantone colour code (Pantone Coated recommended). If you don’t have a Pantone reference, provide a hex code or physical colour swatch and we’ll match it.

MOQ: 1,000 pcs per colour — and this trips people up. Two colours of the same pod means 2,000 pcs total, not 1,000 split in half. You can’t mix colours inside one run.

Lead time: 7–10 days production. Custom colour typically adds 1–2 days to the timeline versus logo-only orders.

You can stack tiers 1 and 2 — coloured shell plus a printed logo — at no extra MOQ. Most brands that go custom colour add the logo anyway.

Tier 3 — Custom Packaging (from 2,000 pcs)

Marbo Zero compatible empty pod 2.6ml — components separated showing assembly, OEM packaging context
Marbo Zero-compatible 2.6ml pod with all components separated. Custom folding carton packaging available from 2,000 pcs. Below 2,000 pcs a one-time die-cut tooling fee applies.

A proper retail box: your artwork, product info, a batch-number window, barcode, full colour, matt or gloss. Standard configs hold 1 or 3 pods. This is what turns loose hardware into something a shop will actually put on a shelf.

MOQ: 2,000 pcs. Go below that and there’s a one-time die-cut tooling fee — usually ¥1,000–2,000 RMB ($140–280) depending on box size. Pay it once and every reorder after that skips the fee, whatever the quantity. So small first run, big reorders is a fine way to play it.

What you need to provide: print-ready artwork files (AI or PDF, CMYK, bleed and safe margins to our template), or a brief and we can assist with layout (design assistance quoted separately).

Lead time: add 5–7 days for packaging production on top of the pod production timeline. Plan for 14–18 days total from deposit to dispatch on a Tier 3 order.

OEM on Devices (Pod Systems)

The devices customise too — the RELX Gen 6-compatible RD01 and the OXVA-compatible XD01 and XD02. Device OEM MOQ is just 100 pcs for logo and colour, much lower than pods because the tooling is simpler and there’s less colour variation to manage.

Bundle a branded device with matching branded pods and you’ve got a complete private-label kit. For brands launching in Southeast Asia, where RELX is everywhere, this is usually the cleanest way in.

What to Prepare Before Requesting an OEM Quote

Want a quote back fast? Have these five things ready when you message me:

  1. Pod SKU or product line — which style are you customising? If you haven’t chosen, tell me your fill type and market and I’ll narrow it down.
  2. Quantity — total pcs and colour split if ordering multiple colours.
  3. Customisation level — logo only, colour + logo, or full packaging.
  4. Pantone colour reference — or describe the colour and I’ll provide closest Pantone matches.
  5. Destination country — determines shipping cost for the quote and any specific documentation requirements.

No finished artwork needed to quote — those five points are enough for pricing. Artwork only comes in before the production deposit.

Always Sample Before You OEM

BC 510 thread cartridge with wood mouthpiece — desk lifestyle shot, sample order available before OEM
BC cartridge with wood mouthpiece. Sample the hardware before committing to a branded run — $120 flat including DHL to EU/UK, result in 5–7 days.

Doesn’t matter which tier you’re doing — before you commit 1,000+ branded units, confirm the SKU actually works with your oil. A pod that leaks is bad enough generic. With your logo printed on it, every failure is your brand failing in someone’s hand. Not worth the risk to skip a $120 test.

The sequence I tell every first-time OEM buyer: grab a sample pack in stock colour ($120, DHL to EU/UK included), fill it, run it for two weeks, then place the branded order once you’re sure. Think of the $120 as insurance against a five-figure production run going wrong.

The whole flow, sample to shipment, is on the how it works page. Or just message me with what you need.
