RELX-Compatible Empty Pods: A Wholesale Sourcing Guide for CBD and E-Liquid Brands

RELX has the biggest closed-pod install base in Southeast Asia, and it keeps growing in the UK and Europe. That’s a gift if you’re building a brand — the consumer already owns the device. You’re not selling them hardware, you’re selling them a refill. You just need the right empty pod, and you need to know how the ten we carry actually differ. Most suppliers list specs and leave you to guess. Let’s not do that.

What “RELX Compatible” Actually Means

First, the obvious-but-important bit: a RELX-compatible pod is not a RELX-branded pod. It’s an empty shell built to the same magnetic interface that RELX Infinity uses — and that several other devices use too. MARBO, SP2S, YOOZ, and some MOTI devices all share it. One pod design, several device families.

The thing that makes it work is the connection: a two-pole magnetic contact, 10mm across, on a pod body that’s about 15mm wide. If it clicks into a RELX Infinity and draws right (1.0–1.5 kPa is the window), it’s compatible. Simple as that.

And here’s why it matters for your margins: no battery in every unit means your hardware cost per sale is a fraction of a disposable. The consumer already has the battery. They just keep coming back for pods. That’s a repeat-purchase model baked into the hardware.

Not All RELX Generations Interchange — Match the Generation First

Before you choose a SKU, settle one question: which RELX generation your buyers’ devices actually use. “RELX-compatible” is a generation match, not a single universal fit. The first-generation Classic pod uses a bottom-contact interface that will not seat in a 4th/5th-generation Infinity or Phantom device, and an Infinity pod will not drop into a Classic battery.

The 6th/7th-generation slim and large-format pods build on the same magnetic family as Infinity and Phantom and largely interchange with it. Confirm the generation first, then sample-test the pod in the exact host device before you commit to a bulk order.

The reason this matters commercially is that the Infinity/Phantom magnetic standard became the most-copied pod interface on the market, so a single empty-pod platform can serve a wide spread of brands. On the modern magnetic standard you’ll find ZGAR / Bingxiong (with universal devices like the 6.0 PLUS, Cube Pro II and Glo-X), SnowPlus, SP2S, LANA and WDG, among others. The legacy Classic interface still has its own roster — LANA, Pinko and select MOTI models among them — on a separate, non-interchangeable pod shape. Confirm fit for the exact model rather than assuming any pod fits every device above.

Demand concentrates differently by region, which is worth knowing when you plan volume. Southeast Asia is the deepest compatible market (SP2S, LANA and value brands run strong across Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand); Russia and Eastern Europe lean on ZGAR / Bingxiong and LANA; the Middle East is a fast-growing distribution hub; and Europe, the most regulated, is where empty hardware for CBD and HHC brands filling their own concentrate is the clearer opportunity.

The 10 SKUs: Matching Pod Style to Fill Type

The range runs R01 to R10, plus RD01 if you want the device too. They differ on capacity, coil, and fill method. Here’s the practical breakdown:

Standard colours across R01–R10 are usually in stock and ship 2–3 business days after payment clears. Custom colour, logo, or packaging is made to order — figure on 7–10 days production.

One caveat: if you’re filling really thick stuff — heavy CBD concentrate, anything resinous — don’t force it into a RELX pod. The inlet geometry tops out around 4,000 cP. Above that, use the duck-bill concentrate cartridges (R11–R13) or the 510 range. Right tool for the job.

Three Sourcing Mistakes That Increase Your Unit Cost

I’ve handled enough of these orders for brands in Thailand, Malaysia, the UK and Germany to see the same expensive mistakes on repeat. Three of them:

1. Ordering a Larger Capacity Than Your Market Needs

A 3.2ml pod runs roughly 18–22% more in materials than a 1.8ml. If you’re competing on a shelf full of 2.0ml pods, that extra cost eats your margin without buying you a higher price. Order the capacity your price point supports — not the biggest one because it sounds generous.

2. Custom Colour Before You’ve Confirmed Hardware Compatibility

Custom colour is 1,000 pcs and 7–10 days locked in. Doing that before you’ve confirmed your oil works with that coil is betting a whole production run on a hunch. Sample it in standard colour first — the sample pack is built for this — then commit to the colour run once you know it works.

3. Using a Trading Company When Direct Sourcing Is Available

Most of the “factories” you’ll find on Alibaba are trading companies marking up the real factory price 15–30%. I source straight from two Guangdong plants. On a 5,000-pc order that gap is usually $0.08–0.15 a piece — $400 to $750 a batch, before you even add OEM. That’s not a rounding error.

MOQ, Lead Time, and Payment

Wholesale MOQ is 100 pcs, and you can mix SKUs across the RELX-compatible range to hit it. For branded orders:

• Custom colour: 1,000 pcs minimum per colour (Pantone matching available)
• Logo printing: 1,000 pcs minimum
